Pictures Of Provence
At the beginning of July we hopped on a plane heading for Provence for a little time out before the festival season got into full swing.
After flying into Nice, we set off to Grasse, a town in the foothills of the Alps, in land from Cannes. Beautiful winding streets lined with ochre coloured buildings and views out to the sea greeted us in the perfume capital of the world.
Beyond Grasse we drove to Castellane and Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, beautiful mountain towns that had bubbled up alongside babbling springs and gushing waterfalls over centuries.
Winding through the mountain passes, alongside gorges and under rocky overhangs we explored the stunning interior of Provence, pausing for wild swimming in the turquoise waters of Lac de Sainte-Croix.
Over the hills North East of the Grasse we explored the hill top town of Gourdon before plunging into the next valley to the captivating Cascades du Saut du Loup.
Back down to the sea, we explored Nice’s azure coastline under wide open skies.
Provence really is a picture perfect location for a holiday. It’s full of beautiful sweeping vistas and gorgeous old buildings in pinks and yellows.
Some mountain air, wild swimming and delicious locally grown produce is the perfect way to unwind in my book.
What’s your favourite get-away location?
