What To Take To A Festival

 In Inspiration, Well-being

We’re well into festival season in the UK now and I have some really exciting events coming up including local Oxfordshire festival Truck this weekend.

Having been an avid festival goer for 20 years, I’ve refined my festival packing to a fine art. I’ve traipsed through the fields of Glastonbury with trolley loads of supplies and perfected packing up vans to trade at festivals like Wilderness.

I have experienced festivals from both sides and come up with my fool proof list with practical festival essentials and not-so-practical festival attire.

First off, the camping list:

  • Tent
  • Inflatable Mattress
  • Battery Pump
  • Duvet (or sleeping bag), Sheet, Pillows
  • Torch
  • Camping Chairs
  • Bin bags
  • Mallet

Clothing is dependent on the weather and type of festival, but this is my go to essentials list:

  • Long sleeve top to sleep in
  • PJs
  • Dresses
  • Shorts
  • T Shirts
  • Bras
  • Pants
  • Socks
  • Leggings
  • Flip flops

To survive a festival without smelling like a farmyard or being side swiped by a sudden bout of hay fever, make sure you are equipped with these essential toiletries:

  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Sun cream
  • Moisturiser
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Baby wipes
  • Toilet roll
  • Hay fever spray
  • Ibuprofen
  • Dry shampoo
  • Hairbrush
  • Make up
  • Ear plugs
  • Face wipes
  • Lip Balm
  • Bug spray
  • Small towel
  • Tissues

Alongside your tent, clothes and toiletries, these are the crucial items you won’t want to leave home without:

  • Festival ticket (& parking pass if you need one)
  • Cash
  • Battery Phone charger
  • Fan
  • Bumbag

These are a few extra things I like to take. Taking a camping stove for morning coffee is a great way to help shift the hangover and start your day!

  • Hair ties
  • Stove, gas & kettle
  • Cups & plates
  • Cutlery
  • Washing up liquid & tea towels
  • Aeropress
  • Fan
  • Umbrella

If you’re camping and can manage an extra bag, or space in your rucksack, taking some food to get you through the weekend is a great idea. Eating at festivals adds up, and there maybe one or two evenings when you can’t face the queues. Here are some ideas to keep you going all weekend long:

  • Brioche (it’s light and doesn’t matter if they get squished in your bag)
  • Berocca
  • Multipack crisps
  • Cereal Bars
  • Coffee/tea
  • Pasta (to cook in advance for the 1st night dinner)
  • Drinks (check what you are allowed to take into your festival)
  • Water
  • Fruit
